The Wooden Spoon Family Restaurant in Ashford

This is the best place to get breakfast in Connecticut! Been coming here for years, have never once received a bad or subpar meal. Staff is very friendly but the food is simply amazing. Try it once and you'll always return.

Good food and service. The omelet was made perfect, so yummy I ate every last bite! My granddaughter enjoyed her blueberry pancakes. I recommend going here but know it is a "cash only" restaurant and there is an ATM available.

Ahh! It's been a few years since I've been here, but I just remembered it and wanted to share a review. This was a beautiful little nook and cranny to grab a bit to eat with my now-fiancee. As I recall it was cash only, so be prepared for that. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was especially homey, which was a welcome reprieve from those harsh cold winters in Connecticut.

First time going, absolutely incredible. Some of the best french toast I've ever had! Will certainly be returning and highly recommend

We had a 20 minute wait to get seated, but I'm glad we decided to stick around for a table. I had the biscuits and gravy and a single slice of apple pie French toast. The gravy on the biscuits was downright amazing. The rest is the meal was fantastic and the service was excellent even though the place was very busy.

Best place to eat in the area. I discovered my first "hole in the wall" which is an egg cooked inside a slice of bread French toast style. So good!

Real corned beef hash!! Food is still great there. I had not been since they changed ownership but twice in the past month eating there breakfast & lunch , I will become a regular.

I love the Wooden Spoon. Their house made hash is out of this world and the small town hole in the wall diner is as authentic as it can be. They have a wonderfully unique call ahead drive through window and an ever rotating daily special. I highly recommend grabbing a bite to eat here! They are cash only but there IS an atm here so no worries.

Enjoyed stopping here for a coffee break. Didn't know they close at 1:00 on weekends. They served us, even though they had closed. Very nice to us. 👌👌

This place is real charming. Fantastic food. Good portions. Good price. Great atmosphere. Good service. The food is wholesome American diner type fare but done to a higher quality than your standard diner. Perfect brunch place. I would give it 6 stars if possible.

The wait is usually worth it! I personally don't go here that often because I have a preference to another breakfast spot, but I can't deny how much my husband loves their biscuits and gravy. Plus I made a bacon waffle and that was yummy.

Amazing local joint. Ownership is truly dedicated to his craft and makes some of the best breakfast food ever. Lots of ingredients are locally sourced and the menu has classic and more upscale options. This is a local's spot for sure, a favorite for many in the area.

The philly cheese steak omelette is great. Service is fast and friendly. They are cash only but they do have an atm with a cheap $2 fee. Will definitely come back.

Great place! Awesome breakfast, I was just passing through and stopped here with a friend. With the locals coming and going, I was still quick to get seated, ordered food and bam it was at the table in record time. Service was great, my food was excellent and reasonably priced. This place really put me in a good mood today.

Great little local breakfast and lunch spot. Dinner now available on some nights. Good selection of all breakfast foods and burgers and sandwiches.

The server was OK, they had only had one server and the place was very busy. The server did her job but she was not in any hurry. Also they only takes cash that's a little strange for a dinner restaurant. But last but not least the food was excellent. I had Fish and Chips (fresh cuts fries) BEST I EVER HAD.
